It was at this point that Raj decided to say he loved Taani. In the end, fortunately and miraculously, both were selected for the final. Raj feels encouraged by Taani's lead in a special dance sequence, and Taani feels comfortable stepping out of the usual house-washing routine of a housewife. Raj responds by pleading with her that she will improve and become friends, working together in their dance process. Despite Raj's initial attempts to imitate the "beautiful" images provided by the heroes in the films, after the first attempt to impress Taani in that way, Taani refuses to be his partner, telling 'Raj' that they will never win the competition if he continues with his antics. Raj joins the competition and at the end of that dance class, all participants are divided into groups of numbers by random numbers given to the staff, and both Raj and Taani have the number '21 '.
Raj goes to Taani's dance competition to see her dance. Surinder is transformed into "Raj", a name he borrowed from Taani's favorite film hero. Bobby gives her the perfect make-up - which includes cutting her mustache, turning her hair into a spiky haircut, and pairing her with fun Western-style dresses, including shades of aviator style with more pastel lenses. In the evenings Surinder and Taani spend in theaters, Surinder realizes that they are powerful and masculine images of Taani's favorite men, and later, he asks his best friend, Balwinder "Bobby" Khosla, the owner of a hair salon, about makeup that can help him win his love. He submits his application and also offers an entry fee. This includes a regular night trip to the cinema to watch Bollywood movies that touch Taan's thoughts about love and his love of dance.Ī few days later, Taani receives a poster for the dance competition and asks Surinder's permission to participate in it as it will help him relax from his normal life at home.
Surinder, grateful for the growing love of the woman Taani showed him, continues to fulfill his desires. Taani later tells her that she will try to be a good wife and thus respect her role in her life, but also that she will never love her because of the lack of love left inside her after losing her ex-girlfriend. While his good character led Surinder to treat him with a different care - and allow him to have his own bedroom - she is too scared to say she loves him. Professor Gupta dies and after an unplanned marriage, Surinder takes Taani to his ancestral home in Amritsar. Surinder agrees quietly because he loves her anyway and as a tribute to his scholar, while Taani agrees to fulfill his father's last wish.
In her deathbed, fearing that Taani would be alone in the world, the dying Guptas begged Surinder to marry her. A terrified Gupta suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized. His fiancée and all members of the couple were killed in a road accident. Surinder "Suri" Sahni is a shy, quiet and kind employee at Punjab Power who first fell in love with Taani, the happy and cheerful daughter of former Professor Gupta when she was engaged to be married, but she can't express it.
